Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

Liquids, explosives, flammable liquids, toxic materials, and perishables. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.

What is the best way to pack a unit?

Larger and more infrequently used items should go in the back of the unit. Remember to keep a walkway in the center of your unit to more easily access items. Always keep items labeled and a list of items stored, even a photo on the outside of each box will allow you to "see" what's inside.

What storage unit sizes are available, and how do I pick the right size?

We have sizes that fit every need, from 20-square foot mini units for storing personal items to large units that accommodate the furniture from a two-bedroom house to giant units designed for commercial and business accounts.

What is a climate-controlled unit?

Climate control can mean different things in the self-storage industry. It means little more than a fan and an open-air vent in some places. But for Delta Storage, climate control means a heating and air conditioning system designed to protect the things you store against heat and cold. 

Can I transfer to a different size after I've moved in?

Absolutely. We're here to help you cope with change. So whether you've outgrown your space or realize that you have more room than you need, just let us know, and we'll work on finding a suitable unit. 

Is there a minimum time that I must rent a unit?

The standard in the industry and at Delta Storage is one month. 

Do I have to sign a lease agreement?

While we ask tenants to sign an occupancy agreement, we offer month-to-month rentals with no long-term commitment required. 

What kind of identification do you require to rent a storage unit?

Security is critical to us, so we ask new tenants to present six points of identification before renting a storage unit. Typically, that means a government-issued photo ID and two additional forms of matching identification. Please try to have this ready when you rent your unit. 

Do I need insurance for my stored goods?

In the United States, there's an understanding in the self-storage industry that your goods are not insured. However, Delta Storage has partnered with Storsmart, which provides a low-cost, self-storage-specific insurance policy. Consult your insurance agent to see if off-site storage is covered if you have your own insurance coverage. 

Do you have outdoor/indoor vehicle storage?

We have both indoor and outdoor vehicle storage at some of our locations. Again, your storage advisor can point you to the right place. 

So you rent parking spaces for boats, RVs, cars, or motorcycles?

Again, some of our storage facilities can accommodate these vehicles. Again, your Delta Storage advisor can tell you which options are available at your location. 

Do you offer 24/7 access?

Some of our facilities allow 24/7 access. However, some additional charges and documents may be required. Consult with your storage advisor for more information. 

Is there trash disposal on site?

We recognize that not everything can be stored. If you have something you need to dispose of, please let your Delta Storage advisor know. We do charge for the use of one of our dumpsters. 

Can I rent a Delta rental truck to move out?

We hate to see you go but understand that not all arrangements are permanent. We'd be happy to let you rent our truck, but we have to charge a fee. Free rentals are for move-ins only. Note: This service is only available at our Bayonne and Jersey City locations.

Does Delta Storage ever close?

We generally close on the following holidays so our storage advisors can be with their families and loved ones:

  • New Years Day
  • Easter
  • Memorial Day
  • July 4th
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

However, some locations are open on a limited schedule on some holidays. Please call to learn more. We also close early on Christmas Eve and New Year's eve. We appreciate your understanding. Aside from these exceptions, we are open seven days a week. 

Do I need to give notice when I am ready to move out?

Again, we hate to see you go, but we understand! We do ask for proper notice. Please let us know 30 days before you plan on vacating. You can provide a move-out notice 24/7/365 in the customer portal. 

Do you offer moving services for loading and unloading?

Unfortunately, we are not a moving company. However, contact our friendly staff, and we may be able to recommend a local mover. 

Do I need a security code to drive onto/into the property?

You do. We take security very seriously, which is why our doors are alarmed. Please make sure you key in your code before opening your storage unit. No one wants the police to show up for a false alarm, so we ask that you please comply with this rule. 

Do you provide moving carts?

Yes! We offer heavy-duty carts – at no cost to you – to make your move easier. However, these carts are for on-site use only and cannot be removed from the property. 

Can I have access to electricity?

We allow customers to use temporary electricity inside their storage units. However, keeping something plugged in permanently is not something we allow. 

I lost the key to my lock. What do I do?

If you've forgotten your access code, visit the front office for assistance. We ask that you never drive through an open date, as this can trigger false alarms. 

What should I do if I forget my access code?

Delta Storage asks that you please go to the Front Office so that we can assist you. Only the account owner can receive the access code from the front office for the safety and security of all our customers. Your Government Issued Photo ID will be required.

What are the payment terms?

Almost all of our rentals are month-to-month, so we appreciate your prompt payment when a new month arrives. However, payments will vary according to storage unit size. Ask your storage advisor for details about our various payment options. 

What forms of payment do you accept?

We make paying for your storage unit incredibly easy. You can pay with cash, a check, a credit card, or a money order. 

How can I make my payments?

Delta Storage offers so many options to get your payment in on time. 

  • The very best option is Auto-Pay. Never forget a payment and never get a late fee.
  • Online 24/7/365 in the customer portal.
  • Via our automated phone system when calling in.

Do you allow automatic payments?

Yes! Autopay is the best option for all customers. You can easily activate auto-pay in the customer portal or stop by, and our friendly storage advisors can assist you. 

Do you prorate rent?

We prefer to keep things simple. The day you rent your unit is the day you pay. The rental charge is based on a full month. 

What are the taxes and fees associated with the rental rate?

We charge a one-time administrative fee when you begin your lease. Also, customers at our New Jersey locations should expect to pay the standard state sales tax in addition to your monthly rate and any other fees that may be applicable.
